Commercial Lines Account Manager
Position Summary
The Commercial Lines Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for commercial insurance clients, providing exceptional service and support throughout the policy lifecycle. This role is responsible for managing a book of business, maintaining strong client relationships, coordinating policy renewals, processing endorsements, and partnering with producers, underwriters, and carriers to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions that meet clients' evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary service contact for assigned commercial insurance clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional customer service.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries regarding coverage, billing, claims, endorsements, and policy changes.
- Conduct policy reviews with clients to ensure coverage aligns with business operations and exposures.
Account Management
- Manage a diverse portfolio of commercial accounts across various industries.
- Coordinate policy renewals, including gathering underwriting information, preparing renewal submissions, and reviewing proposals.
- Process endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, certificates of insurance, and policy changes accurately and timely.
- Review insurance policies and endorsements for accuracy and coverage adequacy.
- Monitor account activity to ensure compliance with agency standards and carrier requirements.
Marketing & Carrier Relations
- Collaborate with producers and carrier partners to obtain competitive quotes and coverage solutions.
- Prepare and submit new business and renewal applications to insurance carriers.
- Negotiate coverage terms and pricing with underwriters when appropriate.
- Maintain positive working relationships with carrier representatives and underwriting teams.
Risk Management & Coverage Consultation
- Identify potential coverage gaps and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
- Educate clients on policy provisions, exclusions, and risk management best practices.
- Assist clients in understanding coverage options and making informed insurance decisions.
- Stay informed on industry trends, coverage changes, and regulatory requirements.
Administrative & Compliance Duties
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation within agency management systems.
- Ensure all activities comply with agency procedures, carrier guidelines, and state insurance regulations.
- Track renewal timelines and service activities to ensure timely completion.
- Support agency growth and retention goals through outstanding service delivery.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Active Property & Casualty Insurance License.
- 3+ years of commercial lines insurance experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, including General Liability, Commercial Property, Business Auto, Workers' Compensation, Umbrella, and Professional Liability.
- Proficiency with agency management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
